Ashley's Softball season begins and ends with the first game.
Well Ashley played her first game of the season tonight, which unfortunately is her last game of the season. She Made a sweet hit at bat that sent the ball deep into the outfield. She has put extra emphasis on hitting this year and it made a difference. She made it to second base. The next pitch she stole third base, now this is where the night takes a turn. She slid into third and her foot went under the base and her body went over the base essentially breaking her leg right at the ankle. She screamed very loud and was in a lot of pain. X-rays at the hospital confirmed the fracture. She was in a lot of pain, but I think the fact that her senior year of softball was over was putting her in more pain. She is very disappointed and worried about finals in school. Now she has to walk on the stage at graduation on crutches. The hospital could not put a cast on it this evening, partly due to the swelling and the fact that she needs to see an orthopedic surgeon in the morning to see how to proceed from here. The Dr. said 4-6 weeks in a cast for sure. So that is how our evening went, just hope everyone else had a better night than us.
Here is Ash in the hospital being a little disappointed.

Krista's Jeep
Well we have finally bought Krista a car, a Jeep to be exact. We have been watching craigslist for some time now, waiting for the right deal to come along and it finally did. Jeeps up here are a gold mine and typically hard to find for a reasonable price, but finally we found one. It is a 1998 wrangler and boy are Dave and I jealous, It looks just like the one I used to have and Dave is jealous cause it is better than the one he used to have ha ha!! As you can see she is pretty happy with it. We got her a personalized plate that will be here in about 3 months, three guesses on what it is......... UMPA 6, umpa cause she is our little umpaloompa and 6 because that is her favorite number, I know spoiled rotten isn't she, I guess that is what happens when you are the youngest ha ha. Krista is a bit of a redneck at heart like David and I so she has big hopes and dreams to jack it up and put big monster tires on it. Dave and I told her she has to learn to drive it the way it is and then her and the money fairy can talk about "rednecking" out the jeep. Ha Ha!! We also told her that once she gets her license she aslo has to get a J O B!! So we will see how that goes ha ha. Needless to say driving lessons on a stick shift have begun and right now she is doing well in the school parking lot and hasn't side swiped any parked cars, thank goodness. We have let her out on the road a few times and lets just say both Dave and I have a few more gray hairs than we used to. Ha Ha, thank goodness she is the last driver we will be training, not sure we could handle another one ha ha.
Well that is it for now, more to come later as graduation is two weeks away!!! See you all soon!
PS the mountain picture was taken today April 23rd, so that should give you an idea of what it will more than likely look like when you all come up. Notice still lots of snow in the hills and no green. So bring some warmer clothes and pack a couple of cooler clothes as who knows what the temperature will actually be by graduation.

Ashley's Senior Prom
Ashley is at her Senior Prom tonight, and here in about 3 weeks she will be graduated. Seems strange, because it was just yesterday when we were picking out her first car and taking the drivers test. Okay so maybe it wasn't just yesterday, but it seems like it. She is wound pretty tight right now, and I am sure it's because of the stress from the unknown. I remember how scared I was right after graduation, wow. We have told her that she has a great plan in place and everything will be just fine and we are behind her 110%, but I guess it is easier to give that advice than to take it. Most people don't like change, but change can be a good thing. I took this picture off the back deck tonight of her and Andrew, pretty awesome huh?

Back from Arctic Man and pictures to prove it.
Okay for those of you who don't know what Arctic Man is, it is like Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, just with snow machines. There is an old saying that it takes all kinds to make the world go round, well we definitely found the "all kinds", some of them thought it great to pee or puke right out side our trailer, others thought it was a great place to smoke their weed, nice and dark and the hordes of State Troopers will never see the glow of their bong in the dark, yeah right LOL!! But for the most part we had a good time. I think next year we will get a bit better spot than where we were located this year, down 6 spots from the bar and right next to the main road leading from the camps to the bar, lets just say we didn't get much sleep LOL.
Neither one of us knew just quite what to expect, until we saw motor home and tent city come into view, then visions of Woodstock rolled into our head...... As you can see by the first picture people didn't have much faith in the bathroom facilities and brought their own ;o)
Necessities.. snowmachine and porta potty.

The sunsets where gorgeous, and the nights were cold

Our trailer, is the black one in the picture, the bar was right across from the the blue tent and the sign you see in the distance.

One of my favorite pictures, look we are so happy.

Us by the pipeline.
Maybe this should be a new races at arctic man (falls under the all kinds category), this was on top of the mountain and apparently the guy in the chair rode like that all the way up there, insane!
Too many snow machiners, in one place you know there is trouble, quick call out the national guard!!
There were firework battles almost every night we were there
They are traveling at roughly 80 miles an hour, can you believe it?

sunset picture
I was able to catch another nice sunset the other night, thought I would post up the picture.
The girls are busy with softball practice. Ashley was able to get all her graduation invitations out over the weekend. They are really nice looking, I was seriously impressed. She talked to the recruiter yesterday and it sounds like she should be getting a firm basic training date within the next month or so. Will let everyone know as soon as we here. Krista is doing good.
Jen wasn't too happy about the picture of her that I posted yesterday. She only said that my basketball picture could be scanned in and posted. Hmmm, I don't think she gets mad, I think she gets even. lol
I have had a project for the last week or so. Jen and I wanted to insulate or enclosed trailer and add some windows. It turns out that that is a bigger job than I had imagined. I gutted the inside of the trailer and installed insulation and windows. We also decided to use whiteboard on the inside to help brighten it up on the inside. I found that Mr. manual labor and I don't get along as well as when I was younger. The trailer turned out really well, so I included a before and after picture.
