a few more pictures
Had to throw this picture I took about an hour ago, nice sunset. Click on the sunset picture to get the real view of it. One of ashley being silly and a picture of Anchorage last April.

A few pictures for the week.
Not much going on this week, I am working days and the girls are in school and going to softball practice. Ashley will be catching and it sounds like Krista will be playing second base. Jen is busy at work this week, and of course Kodiak is keeping us all busy. We had our last official vintage race this week. Andrew took first in the same class Krista took fourth. I also took fourth, so not a great week for Krista and I. Ashley didn't want to race, she didn't want to be as sore as she was before with softball practice (not sure I can blame her) .
A friend of ours, Sam left yesterday. He has moved onto the Chicago area to be closer to family. Can't blame him for wanting to be closer, but he will be missed. Take care Sam, keep in touch and come visit. Always got Jen's sled to ride in the winter.... is that okay Jen? LOL....
I forgot to mention a little bit of info. This is copied right from the AMMC website.

Alaska Motor Mushers Club and Wasilla Racing Lions would like to congratulate the 2010 AMMC/WRL Vintage Series Champions. These guys came out every weekend and raced hard! I would like to thanks them for their competitive nature and the hard drive they have to compete.
Wendell Weigel 0-400cc Champion 1984 Yamaha Bravo
Dave Stricklan 341-500cc Fan or Free Air Champion 1977 Sno Jet
Robbie Schachle 0-600cc Open ??? Frankenstein
Jim Miller Over 50 Class 1980 Arctic Cat Panther
Going into the races on Sunday I was in 3rd place only a few points behind the leader. For some dumb reason I decided to run in the open class also. The open class ran before my class, and I could have easily broke my machine before my race even begin. Things went well and I was able to finish a few places before the current points leader. So it all worked out well.
We have been out taking pictures a lot lately, might have something to do with me getting a new camera. I have a lot of pictures, but I won't bother you all with too many. I posted a few below and I may have some more to come.
Take care.

Weekend at Chena Hot Springs
Jen bought me a new camera for my birthday, and because I work midshifts on birthday she gave it to me early. I think the real reason though was the fact she wanted pictures on our trip to Chena Hot Springs.
Saturday morning we got up early and drove up the parks highway to Fairbanks and then north to the Hot Springs. We took several pictures on the way and we stopped at the Ice carvings for a few pictures. We spent several hours in the pool and finally got out just after 10pm. The temperature outside was about 5 degrees. The pool is an outside pool so you can imagine how cold the walk was from the pool to the inside dressing room. We had a blast.
On Sunday we got up and decided to take an alternate route back home. We drove down the Richardson highway to Glennallen and then cut back over to Palmer. Trip was just over 800 miles and we took just under 300 photos. I am still learning how to work the camera, but some of the photos turned out pretty good. I am throwing out a few and will put some more up later.
Take care.

Weekly happenings
Dave's comments:
The girls are back in school after spring break. Both had softball practice this week, and so far it seems to be going well. Krista seems to be over her little cold that she had and Ashley had lost her voice, but that has come back in full force...lol Jen was really sick last week, she went to the dr and found out she had bronchitis(walking Pneumonia). She spent at least 3 days in bed, but after some medication(a shot in the butt, and some take home meds) she is back up and running.
Jen's comments:
Dave had to mess with Krista for a bit, I'm not sure I have seen the girl actually panic like she did. Krista's boyfriend Cody went to Mexico on spring break with his parents. David being the funny man he is, called her and told her that all flights in and out of Mexico had been cancelled. The girl about cried, it was very funny, then he told her he was kidding, to which she called him a jerk and hung up on him lol. She did not think that was funny. Me being the evil genius told him he should've called Michelle and had Michelle call and tell her that she heard it on the radio down there and play it up for a least a day lol, but maybe we will save that for next time ha ha ha ha (evil laugh).
Jen's comments:
The snow is finally starting to melt after our spring dump. I think David might actually cry, and we may have to have an intervention over snowmachine withdrawl, ha ha. He has had so much fun this winter, he said he hasn't had this much fun since leaving Idaho, and his "glory days" of him and his buddy Jerry taring up the mountain side, and something about naked snowmobiling, not sure I really want to know about that ha ha ha!! (Love you David!)
Jen's comments:
David turns 42 on the 24th of this month. I have gotten him a really good gift, it is driving him nuts not to know what it is, cause it could be really big, or really small or somewhere in the middle, it could be hidden in the house, it could be at a showroom somewhere, it could be at Tareh and Robs in their garage, who knows, could even be next door, either way just something to say how much I appreciate everything he does for me and the girls and to show him how much I love him. By the way I am writting all this cause I know he will read it and it will drive him nuts lol.
David's comments:
Sam, Andy and I went riding and sam took some wonderful pictures. I took my camera, but compared to his I figured it was best to leave it in the backpack. He told me I could post some of the pictures on the blog to share with you all. So here they are, a lot of scenery pictures. He really knows how to take a picture. I will post a few more later this week.
Well nothing much else going on except the count down to graduation and family coming up. 52 days till we get to see family again and 55 until Ashley's graduation day, and 51 days till Ashley's last day of school. For Krista 52 days till we see family, 64 days till school is out, 66 till she gets to see her mom, eat greetion, sonic, japenese, and chili mac ha ha ha.
Miss you all!!!

The Girls race Debut!
As the title says, the girls made there snowmachine racing debut this weekend. The best part of the whole deal is that they are both sore today. Now as a father I shouldn't be happy that they are both sore, but they both said they now understand why I get around a little slow for a few days after a race. WOW, didn't think they would ever understand anything. Ashley was suppose to work, but at the last moment she was able to get off. Because we didn't expect her to be able to race she had to race the 250 in the 340 class. She said she didn't mind, she just wanted to run. She finished fourth and I am very proud of her. I got some good pictures of her. Krista actually got to race in the 250 class and she finished 3rd. We got some pictures of her too. I am so proud of both of them. Just getting out there to race is a big accomplishment. Now Ashley has rode a snowmachine a few times and Krista has only rode by herself once or twice. Riding a vintage sled is nothing like riding the new ones, first off there is hardly any suspension and a skinnier ski stance. This makes it easier to tip over and alot harder to ride. So I am really proud of them.
